For more than three decades, Speech and Language Pathologist Janet Turansky has helped children, adolescents, and adults with a broad range of communications disabilities. She treats clients in Westchester County, New York, and Fairfield County, Connecticut, visiting them in their homes. Janet Turansky provides assessment and rehabilitation for patients struggling with oral motor dysfunction, autism, Asperger’s syndrome, and voice and stuttering problems.
Licensed in New York and Connecticut, Janet Turansky specializes in feeding therapy, the PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) technique, and the Preventing Academic Failure program for children with reading disabilities. An expert on treating swallowing problems, Janet Turansky uses feeding therapy to help clients who struggle with eating. Through the PROMPT technique, Janet Turansky manipulates her client’s face, jaw, and chin to help him create specific sounds, words, and phrases.
Janet Turansky pursued her education at Queens College in New York, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology. After graduating, Janet Turansky enrolled at Hunter College, where she completed the graduate program and earned dual degrees in Speech Pathology & Audiology and Early Childhood Education. Upon completing her studies, Janet Turansky began her career at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Speech and Hearing Clinic, and the Speech/Language and Hearing Clinic at the Academy of Mount Saint Ursula in the Bronx. An established speech and language pathology professional, Janet Turansky belongs to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the Connecticut Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and the New York State Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
